  Short biography

Luigi Lavazza was born in Milano (Italy), in 1958. He graduated in Electronic Engineering from Politecnico di Milano in 1984.

From 1984 to 1988 he was with TXT (Milan), where he was involved both in the development of industrial software and in research projects.

From 1989 to 1990 he was with AITEC (Milan), where he participated to the definition of the company's software development standards.

In 1990 he moved to CEFRIEL (Center for Research and Education in Information Technology), where he is currently a Senior researcher. CEFRIEL is a research and education institute established in Milan in 1988 by major IT industries, universities, and public administrations.

From 1996 to 2005 he was  assistant professor at Politecnico di Milano, Dipartimento di Elettronica e Informazione.

He is currently associate professor at University of Insubria at Varese, Department of Computer Science and Communications.

Research interests

Software process modeling, measurement and improvement.

Requirements engineering.

Advanced software engineering tools and environments, especially concerning real-time software development and process support.

Object-oriented methodology and formalization of object-oriented concepts.
